Visceral Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies D/ENG

100% Online Course

Bridge the gap between rehabilitation and preventative Pilates.

Rehabilitation is not the end of the journey. It is the beginning of a new responsibility. When a patient completes rehabilitation, the next question is often the most important one:

  • How do we help them continue moving confidently, intelligently, and safely?
  • How do we transition from rehabilitation into a preventative Pilates environment without losing sight of the limitations that remain?
  • And how can Pilates professionals make informed decisions when clients return to class with a history of injury, surgery, or pathology?

You already understand movement. You already understand the importance of stability. You already know that every client brings a different history into the studio.

But what if you could connect that knowledge with a more structured understanding of local muscle function, internal support, and the principles of Visceral Pilates?

What if you could better recognize the needs of clients returning to Pilates after rehabilitation — and understand how to adapt their training without turning a preventative class into a rehabilitation session?

Welcome to PILATESwiss® Visceral Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies.

A specialist online Flex Program designed to connect rehabilitation knowledge, preventative Pilates practice, and the Visceral Pilates approach.

DISCOVER THE BRIDGE BETWEEN REHABILITATION AND PREVENTION

This program is designed for two professional groups who share an important responsibility: helping people move well beyond the immediate phase of rehabilitation.

FOR PHYSICAL THERAPISTS

You understand the rehabilitation process.

You know the importance of progressive loading, functional recovery, and individualized care.

But what happens when your patients are ready to move beyond formal rehabilitation?

How can you help them transition into a preventative Pilates studio or mat program?

How can you identify suitable movement environments, understand the demands of group classes, and communicate the considerations that matter when a patient continues exercising independently?

The Visceral Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies Flex Program helps you explore how the Visceral Pilates approach can inform the transition from rehabilitation into preventative movement training.

FOR PREVENTATIVE PILATES PRACTITIONERS

Your clients may have completed rehabilitation.

They may have been cleared to return to Pilates.

Yet they may still present with limitations, movement restrictions, reduced confidence, or a history that requires thoughtful exercise selection.

You do not need to turn every class into rehabilitation.

But you do need to understand when an exercise may be inappropriate, when a modification may be necessary, and when a client’s presentation calls for further professional guidance.

This program helps you develop a more informed perspective on common injuries and pathologies encountered in Pilates practice — and explore how the Visceral Pilates approach can support more considered, preventative teaching.

Two professional perspectives. One shared goal: a more informed approach to movement after rehabilitation.

WHY THIS KNOWLEDGE MATTERS

Today’s Pilates studios welcome increasingly diverse clients.

Some are returning after surgery. Some have completed physical therapy. Others have longstanding musculoskeletal complaints or medical histories that influence how they move.

Being cleared to return to exercise does not necessarily mean that every exercise, position, or loading strategy is appropriate for every client.

At the same time, preventative Pilates is not a substitute for medical assessment or rehabilitation when these are needed.

The challenge is understanding the role of the Pilates professional within this continuum.

How do you recognize relevant limitations? How do you adapt exercises without losing their purpose? How do you understand the difference between a preventative training objective and a rehabilitation objective? And when should you refer a client back to an appropriate healthcare professional?

The answers begin with knowledge — and with a framework that helps translate that knowledge into practice.

A METHOD WITH HISTORY. A PROGRAM THAT CONTINUES TO EVOLVE.

In 2004, Karolina Schmid, author of the Visceral Pilates approach, collaborated with Zurich’s Schulthessklinik in the co-development of the Reha Pilates concept.

That collaboration reflects an early commitment to building a meaningful connection between Pilates and rehabilitation.

Since then, the knowledge base informing Visceral Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies has continued to evolve.

The current program represents years of updating, reviewing, and augmenting its content in light of developments in research and professional understanding.

This is not simply a collection of exercises for isolated conditions.

It is a continuing educational approach that connects movement principles with the practical questions professionals face when working with clients who have a history of injury or pathology.

Experience informs the method. Ongoing research informs its development. Practical application brings it into the studio.

WHAT MAKES THIS PROGRAM DIFFERENT?

This is not a rehabilitation qualification.

And it is not simply a catalogue of exercises to avoid.

It is a professional development opportunity for movement specialists who want to understand how the Visceral Pilates approach can inform preventative training in the presence of common injuries and pathologies.

Through the program, you will explore three essential areas:

1. THE LECTURE CHAPTERS — UNDERSTAND THE CONTEXT

Build your theoretical foundation through dedicated lecture chapters addressing the Visceral Pilates approach and the considerations involved in working with clients who present with injuries or pathologies.

Develop a clearer understanding of common limitations that may influence exercise selection, positioning, and progression.

Explore how to approach movement with greater awareness of the individual client’s situation — without confusing preventative Pilates with the clinical responsibilities of rehabilitation.

2. THE VISCERAL PILATES MAT PROGRAM — TRANSLATE KNOWLEDGE INTO PRACTICE

Explore the practical application of the Visceral Pilates approach through mat-based movement training.

Learn to think beyond a standard exercise sequence and consider how the purpose of an exercise, the demands it places on the body, and the client’s individual limitations influence your teaching decisions.

Discover how thoughtful modifications and appropriate exercise choices can help support a more considered preventative Pilates experience.

3. CLASSICAL PILATES STUDIO MACHINES — EXPAND YOUR PRACTICAL PERSPECTIVE

The program also includes content featuring classical Pilates studio machines.

This allows you to explore the Visceral Pilates approach in the context of a broader equipment-based training environment.

Consider how different exercise settings, positions, and movement options may influence your choices when working with clients who have a history of injury or pathology.

For physical therapists, this provides an opportunity to reflect on the possibilities of a Pilates studio as a continuation of preventative movement practice after rehabilitation.

For Pilates practitioners, it offers a framework for thinking more critically about how exercises are selected and adapted for clients returning to class.

Understand the principles. Explore the applications. Make more informed teaching decisions.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPLORE

Through the Visceral Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies Flex Program, you will:

  • Deepen your understanding of the Visceral Pilates approach
  • Explore common injuries and pathologies relevant to Pilates practice
  • Recognize how previous injuries and ongoing limitations may influence movement choices
  • Develop a more informed approach to exercise selection, modification, and progression
  • Explore the relationship between rehabilitation and preventative Pilates
  • Consider the needs of clients returning to group classes after rehabilitation
  • Study practical applications through the included mat program
  • Explore additional applications involving classical Pilates studio machines
  • Better understand the boundaries of preventative Pilates and when further professional assessment may be appropriate

You will not simply learn what clients may need to avoid.

You will develop a more thoughtful way of considering what they may be able to do, how to adapt the training environment, and when an alternative approach is warranted.

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

The Flex Program is intended for movement specialists with experience working with clients and teaching groups.

It is particularly relevant for:

  • Physical therapists seeking to connect post-rehabilitation care with preventative Pilates training
  • Pilates instructors working with clients who have been cleared to return to exercise after injury or rehabilitation
  • Experienced movement professionals who want to expand their knowledge of common injuries and pathologies
  • Practitioners seeking a more structured understanding of the Visceral Pilates approach in preventative movement settings

This program is designed to complement your existing professional expertise — not replace clinical assessment, individualized rehabilitation, or other healthcare responsibilities.
